Salpuri was called a “Heoteunchum” meaning that it was an impromptu dance performed at shaman rituals. It is the arche-type of the impromptu-style Korean dance where dancers shrug their shoulders and move their arms to the music. The dancer wears a traditional dress and dances with a scarf . The dancer throws the long white silk cloth in the air while the upper body moves vigorously as if communicating with the universe.
